Submitted from Munich at 01:10. QR email arrived before I finished packing. German brain wanted a stamp and a PDF receipt, but it was just done.
UK here. Submitted after dinner, QR before the kettle boiled. Rare government form win.
I was 100 percent convinced THIM replaced TDAC until I saw the screenshots here. The rollout messaging is messy. TDAC still seems to be the pre arrival form.
Yes, still mandatory before arrival. THIM looks like where they want things to end up. The transition is just clunky.
i wish immigration had one plain english page. instead it is split between a portal, a PDF, and a facebook post from forever ago.
Used the apply link here after the province kept showing wrong. Support fixed it quickly. Not a huge story, just saved me from submitting bad info.
Same. I picked Chiang Mai city but had the province wrong. Support caught it. I would not have noticed until the airport.
Province dropdowns are a trap when you are tired. I almost picked the wrong Bangkok option too.
Third Thailand trip this year. I still hate the hotel address field. Approval is instant once the address is accepted, but that dropdown makes me feel like I forgot how forms work.
Hotel address field is the final boss. Use the district from the booking, not whatever Google Maps autocompletes at 1am.
Can someone explain like I'm five. THIM is not the TDAC, right? I need the arrival card before flying even if I install the app?
Correct. Do the TDAC before you fly. Treat THIM as extra account or platform stuff for now.
Airport staff told us the same thing last month: TDAC before landing, THIM is other platform stuff. At least that part was consistent.
Good to hear airport staff are finally saying the same thing. Last year two counters gave us two different answers.
Not a dumb question. I work in product and the naming still confused me. Official docs are somehow both too long and not clear.
App Store reviews are useless for this. Half the one stars are people who thought it was a VPN or a visa app.
Phuket Wednesday: scanned fine for me. Guy behind me had to retry twice because of screen glare. Paper copy is not overkill, trust me.
Paper backup saved our friend in Phuket when his phone died in the taxi queue. They scanned the printout and moved on.
The new staff are better, sure, but I still remember the old crew at Suvarnabhumi desk 12. Absolute nightmare. My wife got barked at for opening the QR too slowly. No reason for it.
Why did she even need to open the QR code? Normally, the immigration counters will have it already on their screen. They just need to see your passport.
Funny you say that, I’ve had mixed experiences. Sometimes they do have it on their screen, other times they asked me to pull up the THIM app or TDAC QR myself, maybe depends on the officer or how busy they are.
Where are people finding the actual THIM app? I searched THIM, TDAC, Thai immigration, all the usual terms. App store is giving me random travel apps and one thing that looks fake.
Search result was weird for me too. Link from this page worked, App Store search did not. Lowercase thim gave me a kids game.
Landed at BKK yesterday afternoon. For once the immigration desk felt organized. A new officer actually explained where to hold the QR code instead of just pointing at the scanner.
Same at BKK. Younger staff near the middle lanes were fine. Older guy on the far right still had that 'why are tourists here' face.
That face is universal. Like we personally scheduled his shift.
No reason to gamble while the rule is this explicit. Do TDAC first, fiddle with THIM later at the hotel.
Brightness to max helped us. The officer literally said brighter, brighter, then smiled when it scanned. Immigration tech support.
